AUTHOR BIOS


ANSON MONTGOMERY lives in Warren, Vermont with his wife, Rebecca, and his two daughters, Avery and Lila. He went to the Groton School and Williams College. Anson enjoys skiing, mountain biking, hiking, reading, and chess. The Moon, and space exploration in general, have always been of interest to him.


JAY LEIBOLD was born in Denver, Colorado. He has also written Sabotage, Grand Canyon Odyssey, Spy for George Washington, The Antimatter Formula, The Search for Aladdin’s Lamp, You Are a Millionaire, Beyond the Great Wall, Revenge of the Russian Ghost, Surf Monkeys, Ninja Cyborg, and Return of the Ninja for the Choose Your Own Adventure® series.


DOUG WILHEM
lives in Vermont, and has written 11 books for young readers. They included eight books for the original Choose Your Own Adventure series, along with the novels Raising the Shades and The Revealers, both published by Farrar, Straus & Giroux. His next YA novel, Falling, will be published by FSG in 2007. Doug is a self-employed writer and a former newspaper reporter. He was once an English teacher and a freelance writer in Kathmandu, Nepal. He has a son, Bradley, who is 19.


JAMES BECKET is a screenwriter and movie director living in Southern California. Before filmmaking he had a varied career: ski racer, eternal student, human rights lawyer, development economist, journalist, author, and international civil servant with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. He graduated from Williams College and Harvard Law School and did graduate work in Switzerland and Chile. He’s traveled much of the world with a long time interest in Latin America. He has three daughters: a doctor and an architect who read fairly well, and a seven year-old just learning to read.


JIM WALLACE lived in Norway for a year and taught school in Kampala, Uganda, for three years. He also worked in Tokyo teaching English and writing English language textbooks. He likes to ride Italian motorcycles. He also enjoys chainsawing wood on his property in Vermont. For some time he’s pursued photography and has exhibited his work in Vermont. He lives in Montpelier and has a 12-year-old son.


R. A. MONTGOMERY
has hiked in the Himalayas, climbed mountains in Europe, scuba-dived in Central America, and worked in Africa. He lives in France in the winter, travels frequently to Asia, and calls Vermont home. Montgomery graduated from Williams College and attended graduate school at Yale University and NYU. His interests include macro-economics, geo-politics, mythology, history, mystery novels, and music. He has two grown sons, a daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters. His wife, Shannon Gilligan, is an author and noted interactive game designer. Montgomery feels that the new generation of people under 15 is the most important asset in our world.


RAMSEY MONTGOMERY lived in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. He enjoys foreign cultures, reading and skiing when he is close to deep powder. Having developed interactive media for a number of years, he now faces his audience head-on as a teacher of English as a second language.


SHANNON GILLIGAN
is a well-known creator of interactive narrative games for the computer. She has spoken about interactive narrative and game design at conferences in Japan, Europe, and the United States. Gilligan got her start in this field by writing for the Choose Your Own Adventure® series in the 1980s. Her books and games have sold several million copies around the world. She graduated from Williams College in 1981 and lives in Warren, Vermont with her husband R.A. Montgomery and her extended family. Gilligan returns to Asia at least once a year. She harbors a secret ambition to write a cookbook.
