Chooseco Publisher, Shannon Gilligan, Presents at the WNY Children's Book Expo

Did you know that Shannon Gilligan, Publisher of Chooseco and author of many classic and Dragonlark Choose Your Own Adventure books, was actually born in Buffalo, NY? This past weekend, Gilligan joined over 30 other children's authors at the Western New York Children's Book Expo to sign books, meet fans, and read from one of her bestselling Dragonlark titles for younger readers, Ghost Island. Below, Shannon dons a princess tiara while signing copies of another one of her bestsellers, Princess Island.

"The event was incredibly run," reports Gilligan. There were upwards of 2200 attendees and hundreds of kids of all ages leapt at the chance to meet one of the faces behind their favorite series (and to gobble up TONS of books).

The following day, Shannon spent the day at Albion Middle School, presenting to hundreds of kids about how to write their own interactive story. Each student went home with a story they wrote, thanks to the amazing staff at Albion MS.

It was also a wonderful return to Buffalo, NY, as Shannon had not been back for a long while, and was able to stop at some important national landmarks on her way home to Central Vermont. Gracie, Shannon's one-year-old puppy, was very excited for her mom to come home.

Thanks so much to Kim Krug of Monkey See Monkey Do, the bookstore that helped to coordinate the event. As well as Liz Marquette, the Albion Middle School coordinator. Thanks goes out to Linda Cannon, one of our New England sales reps, who helped Chooseco get involved with the Expo, took all of these lovely photos, and accompanied Shannon throughout the day. Shannon had a wonderful time and hopes to get back on the road again soon!
